HELM/NAVIGATION: Chris Bryan

Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Chris Bryan serves aboard the USS Cutty Sark as the Helmsman and Navigation Officer, bringing a combination of creativity, organizational skills, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the STARFLEET community.

As Helmsman, Lt. Bryan plays an important role in helping chart the chapter's course by scouting upcoming activities, community service opportunities, science fiction conventions, and other events that encourage crew participation. His dedication to keeping the crew engaged and active reflects his belief that STARFLEET is about more than a shared appreciation for Star Trek; it is about building friendships, exploring new opportunities, and creating meaningful experiences together.

Lt. Bryan's appreciation for Star Trek is reflected in his diverse selection of favorite Trek characters, including Pavel Chekov, Quark, Data, Geordi La Forge, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, and Montgomery "Scotty" Scott. Each represents a different quality he enjoys about the franchise, from technical ingenuity and problem-solving to humor, resourcefulness, curiosity, and the importance of individuality.

Among Starfleet's commanding officers, Bryan currently favors Captain Pike, particularly as portrayed in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Pike's approachable leadership, integrity, and ability to inspire those around him make him a particularly compelling captain.

However, Lt. Bryan finds an even stronger personal connection with Chancellor Ake, whose emphasis on learning, personal development, and the pursuit of knowledge reflects his own interests and outlook. For Lt. Bryan, the opportunity to continually learn, grow, and discover new perspectives is among the most meaningful ideals represented throughout Star Trek.

Lt. Bryan graduated from American Public University in 2020, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. His education provided him with valuable experience in organizational strategy, planning, and management, skills that translate naturally into both his professional life and his responsibilities within STARFLEET.

Outside of his chapter duties, Lt. Bryan is also a musician and video editor, enjoying opportunities to express his creativity through music and digital media. His combination of technical interests, artistic expression, and organizational abilities contributes to his versatile approach to projects and activities.

Lt. Bryan resides in Michigan, with his wife, Heather, and their child, Avery. Family remains an important part of his life, providing a balance to his professional, creative, and STARFLEET interests.

As Helmsman and Navigation Officer, Lt. Bryan approaches his responsibilities with an emphasis on preparation, communication, and discovering opportunities that bring the crew together.

He is passionate about participating in the broader STARFLEET International community and helping fellow members experience everything the organization has to offer. Whether identifying an upcoming convention, coordinating potential activities, or simply sharing his enthusiasm for Star Trek, Lt. Bryan enjoys contributing to the chapter's continued growth.

Friendly and approachable, he is always happy to strike up a conversation about Star Trek, music, technology, or just about anything else and through his service aboard the USS Cutty Sark, Lt. Bryan hopes to help chart a course filled with new experiences, lasting friendships, and opportunities for the crew to learn, explore, and grow together.
